Due to a member of our Accounts clerking team departing to begin a new career outside of the legal sector, we require an Accounts Clerk, who will be based in our Manchester Chambers, to join our professional and hardworking accounts team.
Excellent communication skills and the ability to work well within a team, and of your own accord, are essential to assist with the smooth running of our successful and forward-thinking Set.
The remuneration package is negotiable, and is dependent upon your experience and abilities.

REPORTS TO: Accounts Manager
The successful candidate will join our Accounts & Administration department where the primary responsibilities will include the preparation of Counsels fee notes, drafting claim forms, collection of fees and preparation of management information spreadsheets.
PURPOSE OF THE JOB
· To ensure the smooth and efficient administration of accounts and fee collection
· To provide our clients with a first class service by maintaining high standards
· Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, attention to detail, along with strong organisational skills and the ability to work under pressure are required qualities
WORKING HOURS: 9am to 5.30pm, Monday to Friday
KEY TASKS WILL INCLUDE:
- To update Counsels fee notes with work done, in line with existing fee protocols for Solicitors/Insurers
- To assist in the chasing of criminal, civil and family fees, by telephone, letter and email to ensure prompt payment
- To correspond with / contact solicitors & other bodies, where appropriate, regarding outstanding fees, management information and sundry financial matters
- To keep accurate and detailed records of action taken re: outstanding fees etc to ensure that up to date data is available as required
- To provide reports (in Lex/Excel/Word formats as appropriate) as required by Members of Chambers/Senior Clerk
- To assist in the preparation & submission of Month & Quarter end Management Information reports for Solicitors/Insurers
- To ensure the accuracy of Chambers records whether through booking cases or fees on the computer
- To assist in the presentation, progression and submission of Criminal & Family graduated fees and Conditional Fee Agreements
- To liaise with all relevant parties (Instructing Solicitors, Barristers, Courts, other Chambers, Legal Aid Agency etc) in order to obtain all required supporting documentation for submission of Criminal or Family claims
- To carry out sundry tasks as instructed by Members of Chambers/Senior Clerk/Accounts Manager.
SKILLS/ EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
· 5 GCSEs at Grade A-C (or equivalent)
· Excellent communication skills (both written and verbal)
· Good numerical skills
· Excellent time management, punctuality and organisational skills
· Proficient in IT, with a working knowledge of Microsoft Office
Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
