Job Summary
As the Accounts & Finance Assistant, your job is to assist the financial operations of our company ensuring that they are running smoothly. This includes accounts administration, preparing financial statements, analysing financial data, and providing financial support to the Accounts Manager and Board of directors.
The Accounts & Finance Assistant is responsible for ensuring that our company complies with financial regulations and that all financial reporting is accurate and timely. Additionally, the role may involve working closely with other departments to ensure that financial information is integrated into decision making processes throughout the organisation. Overall, the Accounts & Finance Assistant is a key player in ensuring the financial health and success of our company.
Responsibilities

- Complete daily operational finance tasks as scheduled.

- Identify, reduce, and report financial inefficiencies or waste.
- Maintain accurate accounting records across the Group.
- Assist with month-end management accounts, forecasting, and cashflow reporting.
- Prepare reconciliations (bank, balance sheet, accruals, prepayments, fixed assets).
- Support Year-End processes and liaise with the Financial Director and Accountant.
- Produce monthly KPI and financial performance reports.
- Manage sales ledger, invoicing, and aged debt collections.
- Process daily bank transactions and complete reconciliations.
- Process supplier invoices and prepare payments.
- Set up and manage direct debit mandates (GoCardless).
- Handle customer/supplier onboarding and update finance records.
- Review credit applications and consult with Directors.
- Send staff timesheets to Payroll and upload pension contributions.
- Prepare accurate VAT returns.
- Process staff expenses and company card transactions.
- Raise purchase orders as needed.
- Help improve systems and identify efficiency opportunities.
- Build strong working relationships internally and externally.

Requirements
- Degree or diploma in a finance-related qualification.
- 2+ years experience in an accounts or finance role is essential.
- Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel, Xero.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data entry.
- Excellent organisational skills with the ability to prioritise tasks effectively.
- Good communication skills, both written and verbal, for liaising with colleagues and clients.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
