Applications are invited for the post of Health and Safety Officer (Business Partner) in the Health and Safety office, within the Health, Safety, and Business Continuity (HSBC) Directorate of Professional Services.
The Health and Safety Office supports university operationally providing effective and proactive general health and safety support to a range of academic departments and acting as the university expert on both general risk assessment and travel risk assessment. They will be the Business Partner working with Departments to effect cultural change, requiring excellent influencing and negotiating skills, working with the Health and Safety Officer (Audit and Policy) and Health and Safety Officer (Data and Training) to provide holistic H&S advice and guidance.
We require an experienced health and safety professional with a minimum of a level 3 health and safety qualification. They will have demonstrable knowledge and experience of managing travel risk, including international travel. The ability to communicate and influence stakeholders at all levels is essential, with effective communication skills being expected. The Health and Safety Office is customer focused, assisting and empowering colleagues to allow them to make appropriate decisions about health and safety. While legal compliance is the minimum, we strive for excellence and best practice within the Higher Education sector. This is achieved through building relationships with stakeholders, both internally and externally. A candidate will demonstrate not just a knowledge of legal requirements and best practice but an ability to apply this pragmatically and appropriately to support both academic and professional services colleagues.
