Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled Handyperson to conduct a variety of maintenance, repair, and installation tasks across Thurrock Lifestyle Solutions CIC properties. The ideal candidate will be kind, flexible, dependable, and have experience in carpentry, painting and decorating, plumbing, electrical work, and general property maintenance.
A key part of this role is supporting our customers with learning disabilities and/or autism to learn and develop new skills in their homes.
Key Responsibilities:
Carpentry: Install shelves, general repairs.
Plumbing: small plumbing repairs e.g. taps, washers etc and installation of washing machines and dishwashers.
Electrical Work: Minor electrical work e.g. fitting of overhead lights, changing plugs etc.
General Repairs & Maintenance: Flat-pack assembly, fitting blinds and curtain rails, grab rail installation, minor property improvements e.g. painting/decorating. Grass cutting.
Furniture & Equipment Handling: Move furniture as required, remove, and recycle old office equipment. Set-up of micro-environments when required.
Emergency Cover: Respond to urgent maintenance issues such as burst pipes or power outages (overtime paid for callouts).
Customer Support & Communication: Work alongside individuals with learning disabilities and/or autism, helping them to learn and develop skills for maintaining their own homes.
Requirements:
Proven experience in general maintenance, carpentry, plumbing, and minor electrical work.
Ability to work independently and flexibly, responding to a variety of tasks.
Physically able to perform all duties, including climbing stairs and lifting equipment.
Ability to drive and provide own tools.
Kind, patient, and adaptable personality with a commitment to supporting those living with autism and/or learning disabilities.
