Are you passionate about community safety and ready to play a pivotal role in ensuring the well-being of our children?
We are seeking a dedicated and organised Facilities Services Assistant with a vital focus on overseeing our invaluable School Crossing Patrol (SCP) provision. This permanent, part-time position offers the opportunity to champion child safety within our community, ensuring our crossing points are managed effectively and our dedicated patrollers are fully supported.
The Role:
As a Facilities Services Assistant, you will be instrumental in the smooth operation and high standards of our School Crossing Patrol service.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Supervision & Quality Assurance: Providing daily supervision and monitoring of our School Crossing Patrols, ensuring each patroller is thoroughly trained, working effectively, correctly uniformed, and equipped with fully functional gear.
- Site Management: Supervising the work of multiple School Crossing Patrols at their designated crossing sites, including carrying out regular visits and inspections to maintain operational excellence.
- Patroller Welfare & Support: Assisting patrollers with self-certification and return-to-work procedures following sickness, alongside conducting regular welfare check-ins to ensure their well-being.
- Risk Management: Carrying out regular on-site risk assessments for patrollers, effectively highlighting and identifying any potential risks to the appropriate officers or departments.
- Stakeholder Liaison: Maintaining regular communication and strong relationships with our key networking teams, including Parking Services, School Business Managers, the Transportation Team, Neighbourhood Officers, and local Policing Teams.
- Administrative Support: Assisting with crucial administrative processes such as leave and absence reporting, and the efficient ordering of necessary stock and equipment.
Working Hours & Flexibility:
This is a permanent role offering 22.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday. We understand the importance of flexibility and are open to negotiating the best working pattern for the right candidate. You can choose to work either a dedicated morning shift (7:30 am – 12:00 pm) or an afternoon shift (12:30 pm – 5:00 pm). There may be a requirement for you to work outside these shift times due to service needs.
Essential Requirements:
A full, valid UK driving licence and daily access to a reliable vehicle are essential for this role, for which you will be able to claim a mileage allowance.
If you are a proactive, organised individual with excellent communication skills and a commitment to public safety, we encourage you to apply.
