Rowing Coordinator
The Rowing Coordinator will lead the development of a new Learn to Row and Rowing programme at Cardiff Met. Working in partnership with Welsh Rowing and Cardiff Met Sport, they will establish a clear pathway that supports progression from beginner to club-level rowing, while also introducing recreational opportunities. Rowing is part of the diverse range of sports and programmes that underpin our strategic ambition to become Wales’ Sporting University.
You’ll lead the way by:
- Lead all activities relating to a learn to row programme for students new to or interested in rowing.
- Involvement in student engagement activity through recreational sport opportunities and Met Active programmes.
- Creating a positive, inclusive and cohesive environment for rowing through learn to row and club development activities.
- Collaborate with the Active Lifestyle Manager, Sport Development and Workforce Manager and the Students Union on raising the profile of opportunities available for students through rowing and actively supporting a student recruitment strategy across Cardiff Met Sport.
- Focus on developing a structured programme that supports sustained growth of the rowing pathway—from Learn to Row through to representing the University at BUCS and other national competitions.
What you’ll Bring:
You’ll use your previous experience of coaching & working within a sport coaching environment and understanding of the importance of customer care to provide an outstanding service to our participants.
You’ll also have:
- Club Coaching – British Rowing Level 2.
- Experience of coaching and coordinating a rowing programme from learn to row to competitive.
- Experience of working as part of a team to develop and coordinate a rowing programme.
- Extensive knowledge of effective coaching practice.
- An understanding of sport development principles when designing a new programme.
