Job Title: Waking Night Support Worker (Children Home)
Location: Letchworth, Hertfordshire
Shift Pattern: 3 nights on, 3 nights off | Hours: 11:00 PM – 7:00 AM
Contract: Permanent + Temporary
Salary: Starting at £14ph
About the Role:
We are seeking compassionate, reliable, and proactive Waking Night Support Workers to join our dedicated team and Ofsted regulated Childrens home in Letchworth.
In this vital role, you’ll provide overnight support to ensure the safety and wellbeing of the young people we care for, responding to their needs as they arise and helping to maintain a calm, secure environment throughout the night.
Key Responsibilities
- Awake Throughout Shift: Stay alert, attentive, and responsive for the full duration of the night shift.
- Safety & Welfare: Maintain a safe and secure environment, ensuring the wellbeing of each young person.
- Empathy & Compassion: Provide support and reassurance to those who may find nights challenging.
- Record Keeping: Accurately maintain records and contribute to support plans and handover notes.
- Communication: Effectively communicate with out-of-hour services and internal teams if required.
- Policy Adherence: Comply with all Kelwel Care policies, procedures, and safeguarding protocols.
- Role Model: Act as a positive role model.
Skills and Qualifications
- Teamwork: Work well both independently and within a team
- Safeguarding: Understanding child safeguarding (experience preferred).
- Handover Tasks: Able to follow delegated responsibilities and provide detailed handovers.
- Communication: Be able to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
Candidate Requirements
- Experience: Previous care or support role is desirable but not essential – training will be provided.
- Approach: Caring and empathetic approach with a genuine desire to support others.
- DBS: Satisfactory DBS check (or willingness to undergo one).
- Driving License: All applicants must have a valid full manual UK/EU driving licence and be over the age of 21 (In accordance with The Children’s Homes (England) Regulations 2015).
