Beacon Childcare is committed to providing safe, nurturing, and high-quality residential care for children and young people. Our homes support children with Emotional and Behavioural Difficulties (EBD), many of whom have experienced trauma and require therapeutic, consistent, and child-centred care.
We are now seeking a dedicated Team Leader for our children’s home in Rugeley, Staffordshire. This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced residential childcare worker to step into a leadership role and help make a real difference in young people’s lives.
The Role
As a Residential Team Leader, you will support the management team in the day-to-day running of the home, providing both leadership to staff and direct care to the children. You will act as a positive role model, lead shifts, and ensure the delivery of high-quality, trauma-informed care.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and support staff on shift, ensuring a safe, nurturing, and structured environment.
- Provide direct care and positive role modelling for children and young people.
- Support the Registered Manager and Deputy Manager in daily operations and compliance.
- Assist with care planning, risk assessments, and reviews.
- Mentor and develop residential staff, promoting best practice.
- Safeguard and promote the welfare of children at all times.
About You
- Previous experience working with children and young people in residential childcare is essential.
- Experience leading shifts or mentoring staff is highly desirable.
- NVQ Level 3 in Children’s Residential Care (or equivalent) is essential, with willingness to work towards further qualifications.
- Strong understanding of safeguarding, trauma-informed practice, and child development.
- Resilient, reliable, and passionate about improving outcomes for children.
- Flexible to work a rota, including evenings, weekends, and sleep-ins.
