Job Overview:
We are seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Preschool Assistant to join our team at Greengables Pre-School.
The successful candidate will play a vital role in providing high-quality early childhood education and care to children in our Pre Pre-School Class (children aged 2y10mths- 3 years old), three days a week, for a total of 15hrs:
Monday: 8:45am-4pm
Wednesday: 8:45am- 1pm
Friday: 8:45am- 12:45pm
There may also be opportunities for additional hours in the Pre-School Class.
The post is initially for one year, with an opportunity to transition into a permanent role. (Funding Dependent)
Applicants must have:
Essential Criteria:
*Level 3 Early Years Care& Education or Equivalent (Level 2 will be considered based on number of suitable applicants)
*Minimum of 1 year's Experience in an Early Years /Childcare setting. (1 Year's Experience in Pre-School Education is desirable.)
**Safeguarding Certificate
**Paediatric First Aid
**Food Hygiene Certificate
** Or willing to enrol & complete Safeguarding/First Aid/Food Hygiene within designated time frame.
Desirable:
*Knowledge and practical Experience of the Minimum Standards Health and Social Care Trust.
*Knowledge/experience of inspections. (Social Services and other agencies)
*Knowledge/experience of developmentally appropriate learning and experiences for children aged 2y10mths-3years old.
*Have the ability to observe and reflect and take action, to positively impact learning outcomes for children.
*Have knowledge/practical experience of ICT skills, using Microsoft Word/Seesaw etc.
Duties/Responsibilities:
*Take part in all roles to prepare the pre pre-school environment, both indoors and out. Preparing activities, setting up/putting away, cleaning and storing equipment. Keeping the pre-school clean and organised.
*Plan & implement a stimulating and age-appropriate curriculum that takes into account the children's needs & interests, as well as their level of development.
*Carry out regular observations and contribute to weekly/monthly planning as well as the group's long term development plans.
*To work within a rota to lead activities such as Story Time, Songs & Action Rhymes etc.
*Provide a safe and nurturing environment for children, that encourages children to become resilient, confident and independent.
* Carry out risk assessments & take appropriate action when risks are detected.
*To complete all necessary training essential to the job role, training linked to personal development as requested, as well as training provided by the groups Early Year's Specialist.
*To work as part of a team, and build great working relationships with families and children.
*Contribute to Planning, Preparing and taking part in:
Open nights/days for new and prospective families & children.
Induction days for new children.
Special events linked to the pre-school, including outings, visits, fundraising, family and child events.

Desirable Qualities
A love of Early Years and happy to take learning outdoors! The ability to support children in their first experience of Early Years Education and aware of the importance of developing personal, social and emotional skills at this early age. The capacity to manage multiple tasks efficiently as well as a strong drive to create engaging learning experiences for children is a bonus!
Using your initiative, getting creative with ideas and resources and being part of a small team are all a vital part of this job!
The ideal applicant will have a keen interest or willingness, to develop their knowledge of 'The Curiosity Approach' & Outdoor Experiences and a drive to work with the team put them into action!
