Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Deputy Manager to support the daily operation of our thriving preschool. The successful candidate will work closely with the Preschool Manager to ensure a safe, nurturing, and stimulating environment for children, while also leading and motivating a team of early years professionals.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist the Preschool Manager in the day-to-day running of the setting.
- Lead and support the staff team to deliver high-quality early years education and care.
- Ensure all children are safeguarded and their welfare is promoted.
- Implement and monitor the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) curriculum.
- Conduct regular observations and assessments of children’s development.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records in line with regulatory requirements.
- Support staff development through mentoring, training, and performance reviews.
- Communicate effectively with parents, carers, and external agencies.
- Take responsibility for the setting in the absence of the Manager.
Requirements
- Level 3 (or above) qualification in Early Years Childcare or equivalent.
- At least 2 years of experience in an Early Years setting, with some leadership responsibilities.
- Strong knowledge of EYFS, safeguarding, and child protection procedures.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to lead, inspire, and motivate a team.
- First Aid and Safeguarding certifications (or willingness to obtain).
Desirable
- Level 4 or 5 childcare qualification or working towards it.
- Previous experience as a room leader or deputy manager.
- Knowledge of Ofsted requirements and inspection frameworks.
