Philanthropy Officer

Emmanuel College
£41,561 - £43,691 a year
Cambridge, England
Full time

The College is introducing a new role to expand its fundraising and development initiatives. The Philanthropy Officer will be instrumental in cultivating and managing relationships with prospective and existing donors capable of making significant annual contributions. Working closely with the Development Director and Head of Development, the post-holder will contribute to the execution of our current Development Strategy, aiming to increase philanthropic support and engagement.

The Development Office supports the College in its charitable purpose by building and maintaining a supportive, lifelong, two-way relationship with Members (alumni), and engaging the community of members and friends to contribute their time, expertise and philanthropy. Between 2015 and 2022, the Development Office raised £38m in new philanthropic income through the ‘Emma Enables’ campaign. This was the college’s most successful campaign ever and saw a significant uplift in philanthropy across major, regular, and legacy giving. This is a new post as we look to build on this momentum in planning the next campaign.

Emmanuel College, affectionately known as ‘Emma’, is set in extensive historical, yet peaceful grounds within central Cambridge. It is home to around 700 students (under and postgraduate), 90 Fellows and 180 College staff working across a variety of roles and has a reputation as an inclusive, vibrant, and friendly community.

Further information - a job description and application form can be downloaded below.

In return, the College offers, amongst other benefits:

  • 25 days annual leave, in addition to bank/public holidays
  • Excellent contributory pension schemes
  • Discretionary Christmas bonus
  • Free meal when working
  • Travel to work loan scheme
  • Car parking in central Cambridge
  • Access to the College gym and swimming pool

The College reserves the right to withdraw the advert before the closing date if we receive significant interest.

The closing date is Sunday 22nd June 2025 at 4pm with interviews expected to take place during the week commencing 7th July 2025.
