Job title: Activity Instructor, Performing arts Teacher
Reports to: Camp Director, Operations Manager
Overview: Cascade Camps is a family run company that is friendly and lively. We run activity, adventure and sport experiences for children and young people. Our full-time and seasonal staff teams are full of energetic, motivated people who are passionate about what they do.
The ideal person for this role with us will be confident, outgoing, good-natured, engaging, energetic and highly organised. They should have high levels of customer care as well as safety awareness. They will have excellent communication skills, be attentive to detail, and take safety and fun seriously.
Job purpose: To ensure every child on camp has such a great time that they can’t wait to come back. To provide an experience that is safe, active and fun for every child. The role will be based at our multi-activity day camps in Hemel Hempstead. This is a challenging role that involves a high level of responsibility and requires high levels of safety awareness, strong time management capability, a professional approach at all times and loads of energy. But it's also loads of fun and our staff are the best in the world.
Key responsibilities for the Activity Instructor will include the following:
- Support the Camp Director in delivering safe and successful camps in line with the operating procedures set out by Cascade Camps, and in accordance to additional information in the lead up to the camp.
- Be responsible for promoting and safeguarding the welfare of all children on camp.
- Manage the requirements and behaviour of every child under your supervision and care.
- Report any hazards, damaged equipment or safety concerns to the appropriate manager.
- Help children become familiar with the camp and help them feel confident, safe and settled.
- Manage timings to ensure that the group maximises the day’s activities.
- Motivate all children to participate in the full range of activities.
- Responsible for supervising a group of children and ensuring their needs are met.
- Share details with parents of their child’s experience each day during sign out.
- Work with one group and ensure that the welfare of the children is of top priority.
- Lead, engage children and participate in activity sessions.
- Responsible for leading a variety of exciting activity sessions in a safe and structured manner, adhering to operating procedures set out by Cascade Camps.
- Adapt sessions according to the age and ability of the children.
- Run sessions in line with the operating procedures set out by Cascade Camps.

PERSONAL SPECIFICATION
Essential Attributes
o Are over the age of 18 and have high levels of initiative.
o Very good interpersonal skills and positive working relationships with colleagues.
o Are responsible, caring and organised and consistently exhibit an enthusiastic approach to the role.
o Confident in leading a group of children.
o Hold an enhanced DBS (we can assist you in obtaining this if required).
o Excellent at motivating others and high levels of verbal communication skills.
o Energetic and responsible and ensure the children are always safe and having fun.
o Have a great manner with children and young people.
o Have a great attitude and willingness to help where needed.
o Ability to work under pressure and be professional at all times.
o Excellent timekeeping, reliability and trustworthiness.
Desirable Attributes:
o Experience working with groups of young people.
o Coaching or other activity specific qualifications.
o Have a Paediatric First Aid certificate or other up-to-date first aid qualification. If not, we may assist you in obtaining.

£448.25-547.30 per week, age and qualification dependent.
