Job Purpose
To assist in the running of fun and engaging performing arts sessions at our Performing Arts Holiday Camp for ages 3-5 / 6-11. To provide a safe, welcoming and fun place for children to relax, express themselves and grow in skills such as confidence, communication and self expression. To ensure that the highest possible standards are met, and children have a positive experience at the camp.
Camp Times: 8.30am-4.30pm
Key Duties
- Work as part of a team to devise and deliver a range of engaging and challenging activities that include singing, dance, drama and arts & crafts.
- Ensure all activities are delivered to the highest standard, are appropriate, engaging and fun for the age range of the children taking part.
- Create a safe and positive environment in which children are encouraged to express themselves.
- Follow signing in/out procedures to ensure the safe arrival of children at the camp and the safe delivery to parents and/or named carers at end of day.
- Supervise snack and lunch times.
- Keep children safe by following FAPA policies and procedures at all times, particularly with regard to the Safeguarding Policy and Procedures.
- Keep premises clean and tidy.
- Ensure that all school property and FAPA equipment is looked after and report any damage to the Site Lead.
- Carry out all responsibilities and activities within an equal opportunities framework
- Follow the daily schedule set by higher management and ensure to plan your sessions accordingly.
- All staff must arrive 30 minutes before the start time of the camp for a morning briefing with the Site Lead and to set up equipment for camp to begin.
- Debriefs will be conducted at the end of each day in which staff will give feedback on how they think the day went and if they had any concerns, issues or accidents/incidents.
- All staff will be added to a designated camp group chat for communications between staff and higher management
- Staff must wear correct uniform to camp. This includes black bottoms, and a FAPA staff t-shirt.
Person Specification
- Experience of working with 3 – 11 year-old children in a play, school or similar environment
- Experience in teaching performing arts
- Ability to communicate at all levels, particularly with children
- Enthusiasm, flexibility and a positive attitude is essential
- Ability to work on own initiative but also as part of a team
- Willingness to undertake appropriate training is essential
All staff need to pass strict safeguarding checks, and complete safeguarding training.
