Job Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Ocean Export Specialist to join our dynamic logistics team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing the export process of goods via ocean freight, ensuring compliance with international shipping regulations and providing exceptional service to our clients. This role requires strong organisational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to negotiate effectively with various stakeholders in the supply chain.
Duties
- Coordinate and manage all aspects of ocean export shipments from initiation to delivery.
- Prepare and review shipping documentation, ensuring accuracy and compliance with customs regulations.
- Maintain communication with clients, suppliers, and shipping lines to provide updates on shipment status.
- Utilise Transportation Management Systems (TMS) and Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) for efficient data entry and tracking.
- Negotiate rates and terms with freight forwarders and carriers to optimise shipping costs.
- Collaborate with sales teams to support lead generation efforts and enhance customer satisfaction.
- Monitor shipment schedules and resolve any issues that may arise during transit.
- Assist in the development of logistics strategies that improve operational efficiency within the supply chain.
Requirements
- Proven experience in logistics or supply chain management, particularly in ocean exports.
- Strong data entry skills with a high level of accuracy.
- Familiarity with EDI systems and Transportation Management Systems (TMS).
- Excellent negotiation skills to secure favourable terms with service providers.
- Knowledge of 3PL operations is advantageous.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment while managing individual responsibilities.
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail in handling documentation and shipments.
- Proficiency in sales management practices is a plus.
