Job Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Ocean Export Specialist to join our dynamic logistics team. In this role, you will be responsible for managing the export process of goods via ocean freight, ensuring compliance with regulations and facilitating smooth transportation. You will play a crucial role in coordinating shipments, negotiating with carriers, and maintaining effective communication with clients and suppliers.
Responsibilities
- Manage the end-to-end ocean export process, ensuring timely and accurate shipment of goods.
- Negotiate rates and terms with shipping lines and freight forwarders to optimise costs.
- Coordinate with third-party logistics (3PL) providers to ensure seamless operations.
- Perform data entry tasks related to shipments, including documentation and tracking.
- Utilise transportation management systems (TMS) for monitoring shipment status and updates.
- Generate leads for potential new business opportunities within the supply chain sector.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant export regulations and documentation requirements.
- Collaborate with internal teams to resolve any issues related to shipments or logistics.
Experience
- Proven experience in ocean export operations or a similar logistics role is preferred.
- Familiarity with EDI (Electronic Data Interchange) systems is advantageous.
- Proficient in using software applications related to logistics and supply chain management, including AS400.
- Strong negotiation skills and the ability to build relationships with carriers and clients.
- Excellent organisational skills with a keen eye for detail in data entry tasks.
- Knowledge of supply chain processes and best practices within the logistics industry.
