Care Assistant

Ocean Healthcare
£13 - £18 an hour
Plymouth, England

This is Agency Care Work – But Not as You Know It.

Join our Agency Team supporting children, young people and adults with complex care needs in their own homes. We offer flexible hours, enhanced pay rates, clinical training and real variety.

Are you an experienced Healthcare Assistant or Support Worker looking for a fresh challenge? Want the flexibility of agency care jobs with the added reward of supporting people with complex care needs in their own homes?

This could be exactly what you’re looking for.

We’re expanding our Complex Care service in and around Plymouth and are looking for skilled, reliable carers to join our Agency team. You'll have the opportunity to work in a variety of packages – each with its own challenges and rewards – and make a real difference to the lives of those with the most complex health and support needs.

You’ll need to be flexible and happy to travel up to 20 miles from Plymouth. In return, you’ll get the benefits of agency flexibility and the enhanced rates and training that come with working in complex care.

Who you’ll support and the care you’ll deliver:

As part of our complex care agency team, you’ll be supporting children, young people and adults with a wide range of complex needs – some people may require support with tracheostomies, PEG feeding, seizure management or ventilated care, while others may be living with complex sensory or mental health needs. Some packages will be one-to-one, others may involve working as part of a small team to deliver round-the-clock care.

Training and support to help you grow:

You don’t need to have experience in every area of complex care - what matters is that you’re experienced, willing to learn and committed to making a difference. We’ll provide you with:

  • Clinical training tailored to the care packages you’re working in
  • Supervision and ongoing support from our nurse-led clinical team
  • Access to shadowing opportunities so you can build confidence in new skills
  • Bespoke upskilling in areas such as tracheostomy care, PEG feeding, medication administration, seizure management, moving & handling and person-specific communication strategies
Pay Rates & Shifts:

Shifts mostly vary between 4 and 12 hours. DAY and NIGHT shifts available. We'll work with you to match you and your availability to our packages of care.

Complex Care Pay Rates range from £13.00-£18.55 per hour. Rates vary by shift type (day/night/weekend) and by complexity.

We’re looking for people who are:

  • Experienced (minimum 6 months of hands-on care experience)
  • Flexible, compassionate and confident in varied care settings
  • Based in or near Plymouth and happy to travel up to 20 miles
  • Reliable and available for regular shifts (minimum 20 hours/week)
  • Open to learning and keen to build your clinical care skills
  • Hold a full UK driving licence and have access to a vehicle

What you can expect from us:

  • Competitive pay rates based on the shift and complexity
  • Regular, rewarding work with a variety of clients
  • Clinical training and ongoing support from our nurse-led team
  • Flexible working that fits around your life
  • The satisfaction of delivering truly meaningful care
Why Join Us?

When you work with us, you’re part of a supportive, professional and highly regarded team. Our philosophy is Live Happy Care Well. Check out OceanHealthcareUK on Facebook to find out more about us!

What You’ll Need:

  • At least 6 months of UK experience as a Healthcare Assistant or Support Worker
  • Two UK work references (at least one must be care-related)
  • Reliability and Good Communication
  • Right to work in the UK (We do not offer Work Visa)
