· Hold a minimum of Level 3 qualification or above in childcare and previous experience in a leadership or supervisory role.

· Hold Experience in Childcare setting.

· Have a current First Aid qualification

· Be DBS checked and on update service

· To work closely with the manager in the running of the setting as a whole.

· Plan and lead stimulating and educational activities that engage children while adhering to the Early Years Foundation Stage standards

· Support children’s social and emotional development through games, stories, music, and arts activities

· Support children’s learning development though reading, writing and numeracy work

· Monitor children’s food and drink consumption, feeding younger children and supervising older children during mealtimes

· Support children with personal hygiene including changing babies and assisting with toilet training when required

· Arrange and chaperone outdoor activities such as visits to parks and outdoor games

· Act as a key worker for one or more children, including monitoring their progress, maintaining detailed records, providing developmentally challenging next steps, and reporting to their parents and/or carers

· Ensure the safety of all children and report any concerns immediately to the management team

· To promote the highest levels of care and respect at the setting both amongst staff, children and also their parents/guardians.

· To stay up to date with legislation, regulatory and new developments in Early Years and to undertake training for your personal development/continued professional development (CPD) additional training that will enhance the running of the setting, seminars, conferences etc…

· To build positive relationships with staff, treating all staff members fairly and not forming alliances with staff to the detriment of the employer.

· To work alongside fellow childcare professionals, e.g. health visitors, speech therapist, education specialists, EYAT, SENCO etc.

· To follow the SEN Code of Practice when applicable.

· Positively promote the childcare setting to parents, staff, potential clients and members of the community.

· To ensure daily and weekly observations for all children are completed in line with best practices and to ensure any appropriate development actions are put into place and executed effectively.

· To check for pre-existing/prepare two year progress checks where applicable or any other appropriate assessments in order to understand the children better.

· To help manage the overall administration, paperwork and recording of the Nursery to ensure the welfare of all children and effective management of the work.

· To help ensure that all necessary administration is carried out to enable the setting to run efficiently and effectively, meeting all requirements laid down by legislation.

· To help prepare any regulatory paperwork as expected and bring to the management’s attention or complete if requested.

· To promote recycling and incorporate effective methods to prevent unnecessary wastage of resources/materials/supplies.

· To work as a team to achieve and maintain the highest standards of care.

· To work directly with the children and know every child in your care.

· To understand the staff rota, help ensure there are sufficient staff available to meet the ratio requirements or arrange cover liaising with the management/directors throughout the process.

· To open/close and help fully manage the setting alongside the management/directors.

· To help tidy up all areas (including shared areas) in accordance with the directors expectations.

· To ensure that any shared usage of the building is duly noted and any shared areas are tidied up as expected by the agreed/in preparation of agreed times.

· To maintain the highest levels of data security and overall security of the business and it’s data, children and their parents and ensure the property is correctly secured at all times. Alert the management to any security issues immediately so effective measures can be taken.

· To help ensure records are updated and maintained at a high standard throughout the setting.

· To adhere to Health and Safety policies, maintaining risk assessments, and relevant policies and procedure documentation.

· To work in partnership with parents/carers to best support children’s care and development.

· To help develop and maintain highly professional working relationships with relevant Local Authority departments, regulatory bodies and other agencies.

· To liaise with external agencies to assist in obtaining advice, guidance, and intervention to support children and their families within the setting.

· To create and manage a play environment where children can make choices, access a range of resources and be supported by a responsive and adaptable approach to their learning and development.

· To help develop a rich and varied curriculum which engages and challenges the children in our care. Help monitor the delivery of such curriculum – it should be creative, stimulating and fun to learn at Stellar Nursery.
