We have a vacancy for a Senior Nursery Practitioner/Room Leader (maternity cover) at our nursery in Alfreton nursery in our Baby unit.
THE KEY DETAILS
- Hours per week: 32-40 hours a week, all year round
- Hours of work: shifts between 7:15am-6.15pm
- Pay: £13 per hour
- Contact Timings: October 2025 - September 2026
- Reports to: Nursery Management
- Location: White House Nursery Alfreton, Just off Watchorn Lane, Alfreton DE55 7AT
- Requirements: Level 3 Qualification in childcare and education (or equivalent). You must also have at least 2 years qualified childcare experience.
Working Patterns
- Our room seniors work a minimum of 32 hours per week to a maximum of 40 hours per week.
- Our working hours are shift basis between 7.15am and 6.15pm
- Occasional evening or weekend work may be required due to staff meetings, training or conferences, however these are always arranged in advance and either time back or overtime is given.
These positions will provide an opportunity to really influence the running and leading of the unit, as well as offering lots of opportunity for you to build on your own professional development.
We are looking for strong, qualified candidates with a wealth of experience to help lead the wider team and uphold our high standards of childcare that we provide. The ideal candidate would already have some leadership experience to help them manage other staff members within the unit.
Essential Skills for this position are as follows -
- Minimum Level 3 (or equivalent) in Early Years Education.
- Minimum of 2 Years Qualified Experience in a childcare setting
- Excellent understanding of the EYFS and how to use it effectively.
- Good knowledge of core policies & procedures in Early Years (safeguarding, Inclusion and Equality of opportunities policy, promoting positive behaviour)
- High levels of energy & passion.
- Good patience and ability to engage children of all abilities.
- Excellent spoken and written English.
- Warm & friendly personality.
- Proactive, ‘can do’ attitude.
- Innovative & inspirational approach to learning indoors and a passion for outdoor play.
Desirable Skills for this position are as follows -
- First aid qualified
- Additional training (e.g. safeguarding, food hygiene.)
- Experience in a leadership role
