Burton Addiction and O’Connor Centres is an award winning organisation which offers support to individuals with drug and alcohol problems in a range of settings including detoxification and residential rehabilitation, recovery housing, social enterprises and community based therapeutic services.
We have the following new role (fixed term post until 31st March 2026) which will provide support to men affected by their mental health in a group setting.
We are looking for a special someone who can create a safe, respectful and inclusive space for male participants to discuss their issues, provide support and encouragement, guide discussions and organise social events – raising the profile of this service.
If you are a natural facilitator creative, adaptable and have strong organisational skills and have experience in:
- Developing strong, trust-based relationships with the programme participants
- Creating an inclusive, supportive and inspiring culture that is empowering others to grow and lead
- Working closely with colleagues and partners to develop and deliver meaningful programmes that centre on participants voices

Main duties
· Work in an holistic person-centred approach guiding and providing the group with the tools to better manage their mental health and/or substance misuse
· Deliver activities and interventions, ensuring the environment is a safe, respectful space that supports accountability and self-reflection.
· Build and develop the participants personal strengths, social networks and recovery capital
· Write progress reports against Key Performance Indicators for monitoring purposes, in the timeframe provided.
· Provide case studies for contract monitoring purposes
· Plan the group sessions with Therapist team and deliver them in the weekly sessions
· Provide facilitated access and referral to SARAC, STARs (Staffordshire’s community drug and alcohol service) and the Burton Addiction Centre, for men affected by sexual abuse/assault and substance misuse
· Signpost participants to other local services as appropriate e.g. formal mental health services where required
· Organise social events for the group
· Raise external awareness by running targeted social media and marketing campaigns to increase publicity around men’s mental health in East Staffordshire
· Build relationships with other local partner organisations
Develop a network of people attending the group to offer peer-led support to others
