The Role…
The Maintenance Person plays a crucial role in ensuring the upkeep, safety, and functionality of our care home environment. Working closely with the Home Management and proprietor. The Maintenance Person will be responsible for various tasks related to building maintenance, repairs, and health and safety compliance. The work can be both physically and mentally demanding. It will also require you to go into residents rooms and being able to feel comfortable around vulnerable people living with mental health, physical and learning disabilities.
Responsibilities include (This list is neither exhaustive or conclusive):
- Conduct routine inspections of the care home premises to identify any maintenance issues or safety hazards.
- Perform repairs and maintenance tasks, including plumbing, carpentry, painting, and general handyman duties.
- Respond promptly to maintenance requests from staff and residents, prioritizing urgent matters to ensure minimal disruption to daily operations.
- Carrying out or arranging to be carried out, planned and responsive maintenance and improvement works at across the all of the Jiva care homes.
- Being pro-active in making recommendations for improving property operations and solving maintenance related problems.
Qualifications…
- You will need to be experienced at painting and decorating. Having electrical and plumbing skills would be beneficial but not essential, preferably in a healthcare or residential setting.
- You will need to demonstrate that you have excellent knowledge of Health and Safety, COSHH, Fire Safety and Food Safety
- You will keep up to date and accurate records of all checks and repairs completed and scheduled
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team setting.
- Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and tasks as needed.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation for job site visits
- Good interpersonal skills, especially friendly and approachable with ability to form positive relationships with others
