About the role
As Maintenance Assistant, you will support 12 care homes across Stockport and Staffordshire. Day to day you’ll provide a reactive repairs service with health and safety and the needs of our residents at the forefront of your mind.
Multi-Skilled person required for a unique role within a vibrant care home group
A multi-skilled building maintenance person is required for variety tasks across different disciplines, including building maintenance, joinery, plumbing, and painting. This role requires flexibility, problem-solving skills, the ability to work independently and as part of a team. This permanent role allows the right candidate with the correct skills to make a difference to people who live and work in our care homes.
KEY TASKS OF THE POST
- Fault Finding: Identifying and diagnosing various building and building services
- Building Maintenance: Undertaking minor building repairs and maintenance related tasks to the building the fabric, fixtures and fittings including plumbing, joinery.
- Preventative Maintenance: Carrying out routine checks and maintenance to prevent breakdowns.
- Painting and Decorating: Experience is required for one off tasks
- Safety Compliance: Ensuring all work is carried out in accordance with health and safety regulations.
- Communication: Effectively communicating with team supervisor and other members of the maintenance team.
- Documentation: Recording all maintenance activities, modifications, and repairs.
Essential skills and experience:
- Multi-skilling: Proven experience in multiple trades, building repairs, joinery, plumbing and painting
- Troubleshooting: Strong problem-solving and diagnostic skills.
- Technical Knowledge: Understanding of relevant regulations, codes, and safety procedures.
- Physical Fitness: Ability to perform physically tasks and work in various environments.
- Take instruction from the maintenance supervisor to maintain the agreed time schedules for the completion of repairs and tasks
- Time Management: Ability to prioritise tasks and manage workload effectively to complete the work in a speedy and safe manner
- Work in cooperation with the home manager and staff to plan the safety of the residents while the works take place
- Manage the Health and Safety around the residents and staff while the works take place
- Training and Supervision: Assisting in the training and supervision of other maintenance personnel as required.

Expectations of the role
The successful candidate will undergo an Enhanced Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS) Check
Must hold a current full, driving licence.
Travel between 10 care homes in Stockport and two in Staffordshire is required
A company van is provided to carry tools and materials between sites
