Role Purpose
The professional-level role has been created to strengthen our small HR team in response to significant headcount growth in recent years.
The Partner will act as a trusted advisor to manager and leaders, working closely with operational leaders to align HR initiatives with business priorities and drive sustainable growth. The role combines operational HR for UK based employees with HR change projects across the business that may span our global operations.
Responibilities
The main responsibilities are:
- Providing guidance to managers and employees on UK HR policies, procedures and employment legislation.
- Acting as a trusted advisor to managers and employees: able to challenge as needed on how we support and develop people.
- Developing and updating UK HR policies and Staff Handbook to meet align with the needs of the business and ongoing legal changes, particularly the Employment Rights Bill.
- Managing employee relations cases, from initial advice to resolution.
- Working in collaboration with our Recruitment Manager to ensure the attraction of top talent.
- Contributing to the development and implementation of learning and development programmes, including facilitation of sessions and ideally presenting training e.g. our Early Careers Programme.
- Collaborating with the Head of HR on change management and HR projects within EnSilica.
- Contributing to the continuous improvement of HR systems and practices: collaborating with other HR team members to streamline HR processes and leverage the capabilities of the HRIS.
- Assisting with the regular cycle of HR programmes including pay reviews, employee survey, talent reviews.
- Using HR data and systems to generate management reports, insights and guide decision-making.
- Promoting wellbeing to support the physical, emotional, and mental wellbeing of employees. DEI, and actions to support these, e.g. wellbeing action plans. Deputise for the Head of HR as required.
Education / Key Skills / Experience
Essential
- CIPD Level 5 qualified (minimum).
- Solid experience in a generalist HR role, preferably working with a predominately professional workforce e.g. engineers, scientists.
- A practical understanding of employment law and strong HR knowledge.
- Excellent communication and coaching skills – credible with senior managers.
- Strong commercial awareness with the ability to balance people and business priorities. A proactive, problem-solving mindset and a flexible, hands-on approach.
Desirable
- Experience managing HR projects or change initiatives.
- MBTI practitioner Experience developing and running training sessions

Position Specifics
- This role is hybrid office/working from home. Our guideline is for 3 days in the office.
- Very occasional travel may be required to another UK site (Bristol, Cambridge, Sheffield) Applicants must have the right to live and work in UK.
