Job Overview
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Construction Estimator to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for evaluating project costs, preparing detailed estimates, and ensuring that all aspects of the construction projects are financially viable. This role requires a strong understanding of construction processes, materials, and cost control measures to provide accurate and competitive bids.
Responsibilities
- Analyse blueprints, specifications, and other documentation to prepare comprehensive cost estimates for construction projects.
- Collaborate with project managers, architects, and engineers to gather necessary information for accurate estimations.
- Conduct site visits to assess project conditions and gather data for estimating purposes.
- Prepare detailed breakdowns of costs including labour, materials, equipment, and overheads.
- Monitor project budgets and assist in cost control throughout the construction process.
- Maintain relationships with subcontractors and suppliers to obtain competitive pricing.
- Review and evaluate bids from subcontractors to ensure compliance with specifications.
- Provide support during the bidding process by preparing bid documentation and presenting estimates to clients.
Qualifications
- Proven experience as a Construction Estimator or in a similar role within the construction industry.
- Strong understanding of construction methods, materials, and cost control principles.
- Proficient in reading and interpreting blueprints and technical drawings.
- Excellent analytical skills with attention to detail in estimating costs accurately.
- Strong communication skills to effectively liaise with clients, contractors, and team members.
- Proficiency in estimation software and Microsoft Office Suite is preferred.
- A degree in Construction Management, Quantity Surveying, or a related field is advantageous but not essential if experience is demonstrated.
