Job Overview
We are seeking an enthusiastic and passionate Forest School Wilder Learning Leader to join our early years team and inspire children through outdoor learning experiences. With nearly an acre of land to call home, we are seeking someone who will embrace the outside classroom alongside our ethos and love for outdoor learning. The ideal candidate will create a safe, engaging, and stimulating environment where children can explore, develop confidence, and build connections with nature. You will plan and deliver Forest School sessions, incorporating the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS), Safari Childcare's bespoke curriculum, and fostering curiosity, independence, and resilience in young learners.
Duties
Mostly have fun with our children in our wonderful outside area, fostering a love for learning and creativity in the outdoors.
- Plan and lead engaging and age-appropriate Forest School Wilder Learning sessions for children in line with EYFS requirements.
- Ensure the safety and well-being of all children by carrying out regular risk assessments for outdoor activities and environments.
- Maintain high standards of health and safety, ensuring compliance with all relevant policies, procedures, and safeguarding regulations.
- Safely manage tools and resources used during Forest School sessions, teaching children proper usage and respect for equipment.
- Foster strong, positive relationships with children, encouraging their confidence and independence.
- Communicate effectively with parents, providing updates on their child’s progress and the benefits of Forest School activities.
- Work collaboratively with the nursery team, supporting colleagues in integrating outdoor learning into the broader curriculum.
- Manage and maintain Forest School Wilder Learning resources, ensuring they are safe, clean, and appropriate for use.
- Advocate for sustainability and environmental responsibility within the setting.
Professional Development
- Keep up to date with best practices in Forest School education and early years development.
- Attend training sessions and contribute to the setting’s ongoing improvement and development.
- Use the natural environment to encourage exploration, problem-solving, and team-building skills.
- Develop lesson plans that support children’s development across all areas of learning, including physical, emotional, social, and cognitive growth.
Requirements
- Level 3 Forest School Leader qualification or equivalent.
- Level 3 Early Years Educator qualification (or equivalent).
- Experience working with young children in an outdoor learning environment.
- A strong understanding of the EYFS framework and how it relates to Forest School activities.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to engage children, families, and colleagues.
- Knowledge of health and safety practices, including conducting risk assessments.
- Passion for outdoor education and the benefits it provides for children’s development.

Pay: £24,960.00-£26,624.00 per year
Expected hours: 16 – 40 per week
