Oxford Nanopore Technologies is seeking a New Product (NPI) and Partner Field Application Scientist to join our Commercial Operations team. This is a unique opportunity to work at the forefront of genomics innovation, supporting early access and developer projects that shape the future of molecular diagnostics, clinical research, and applied science.
You'll collaborate with global partners and internal teams to deliver hands-on technical support, gather product feedback, and drive continuous improvement across our cutting-edge platforms.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage technical relationships with developer, evaluation, and early access customers and partners.
- Coordinate and deliver training, demonstrations, and solution evaluations with external partners and beta sites.
- Work directly in customer labs to run new workflows end-to-end and gather feedback on product performance and usability.
- Provide technical support during early access phases, including setup, optimization, workflow implementation, validation, and data analysis.
- Collaborate with internal teams including FAS, Translational Applications, Sample Tech, R&D, Bioinformatics, Regulatory, and Product Management.
- Establish communication and visit plans for assigned customers/partners based on project milestones and business priorities.
- Provide scientific and application feedback to improve workflows and align product development with business goals.
- Share responsibility for completing external partner projects within agreed timelines.
- Contribute to internal product evaluations, lab testing, experimental design, usability studies, and documentation.
- Provide strategic and competitive insights to marketing, sales, and product development teams. Record and document all customer interactions in ONT
- 's CRM system.
- Represent ONT at conferences, seminars, and webinars relevant to assigned projects.
- Collaborate with Global Support and Technical Enablement teams to develop documentation and train global technical services teams. Perform other duties within the scope of the role as required.
Requirements:
- MSc or Ph.D. in life sciences (e.g., genetics, molecular biology, immunology).
- Strong lab experience and understanding of genetics, molecular biology, and cell biology.
- Hands-on experience with NGS platforms and experimental design.
- Excellent troubleshooting, communication, and customer-facing skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and work collaboratively across departments and geographies.
- Willingness and ability to travel globally up to 70% of the time, including lab visits, partner meetings, and conferences.
Desirable Skills & Experience:
- Experience with Oxford Nanopore products.
- Previous FAS experience in clinical/applied settings.
- Familiarity with automation platforms and ISO regulatory frameworks.
- Project management experience.
- Experience in clinical, diagnostics, or applied labs (government, pharma, private labs).
- Working knowledge of bioinformatics and sequence analysis tools.
- CRM experience (e.g., Salesforce). Fluency in additional languages (e.g., German, French, Spanish).
