Job Description
The Terrace, a conference and events venue situated at the heart of Wellington Place in Leeds, is hiring an individual with previous front-of-house and events experience to work alongside the small on-site team and help manage the venue and execute events. You’ll be joining the team during a period of growth and change period, with expansion plans for the venue just around the corner.
Responsibilities
Event Management and Marketing
- Responding to enquiries in a timely, efficient and personalised manner
- Confidently sell the space for events and meetings over the phone, via email and in person, highlighting all the features, specifications and benefits
- Provide excellent customer service at all times to ensure an excellent experience for guests, with the hope of generating repeat custom and positive reviews
- Manage the whole event planning process from enquiry to event, working with the client throughout to ensure it is as they have envisaged and planned
- Help generate marketing materials such as weekly social media postings and our quarterly newsletter
- Maintain and update venue directory listings to boost visibility and draw leads
- Co-ordinate with external suppliers for events, ensuring Health & Safety and venue standards are adhered to
- Deal with any complaints or issues, aiming for a positive outcome.
Operations
- Open and shut the venue as required
- Ensure that the venue is well presented, fully stocked, and rooms are set ready for viewings or the next meeting
- Arrange reactive maintenance where required
- Order stock and supplies
- Co-ordinate maintenance visits and works to ensure there is minimal impact on customer experience
- Ensure clients have paid in advance of bookings
- Administer supplier invoices with approval from the Venue Manager.

- Can work under pressure and problem solve
- Good IT skills, in particular Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel.
Although the skills and experience are desirable, it is not all essential to be considered for this role. We are looking for the right person with the right attitude to be part of our team.
Details
- 37.5 hours a week (Monday – Friday) 09:00-17:30
- Due to the nature of this role, flexibility will be required to accommodate early morning or evening events, shifts to be agreed with colleagues and management.
- Full-time permanent contract
Competitive Salary
- 23 days holiday increasing by a day for each year of service, capped at 25 days + 8 bank holidays.
