Estimator – Flooring (BAC Flooring, Sutton Coldfield)
Salary: £40,000–£45,000 + mileage + benefits • Location: Sutton Coldfield (West Midlands)
BAC Flooring is growing and we’re hiring a Flooring Estimator to price projects accurately and keep clients informed from first enquiry through to handover. You’ll be local, skilled, and confident talking to customers—able to translate drawings and site info into clear, competitive quotes that land work and protect margin.
What you’ll do
- Produce measured take-offs from drawings/site surveys; build BOQs and labour/material breakdowns
- Source and reconcile supply-chain quotes; set wastage factors, prelims and phasing assumptions
- Price across LVT, carpet tiles, safety vinyl/Altro, timber, stair nosings/edgings, and subfloor prep (DPM, latex/screed)
- Draft clarifications, exclusions and VE options; present at adjudication and hand over cleanly to delivery
- Track tender status, win rates and pricing benchmarks; keep rates libraries current
- Attend client/site meetings, manage RFI/queries, and support variations during delivery
You’ll bring
- Proven flooring estimating experience with a contractor/subcontractor
- Solid product knowledge (Altro, Polyflor, Karndean, Interface, adhesives such as F. Ball/Bostik)
- Confident with Excel and digital take-off tools (MeasureSquare/Callidus/Bluebeam or similar)
- Adaptable, analytical, proactive: you see risk early, communicate clearly, and keep things moving
- Clean UK driving licence and a local base near Sutton Coldfield
What success looks like
- 3 months: tidy, auditable files; reliable supplier coverage; clear clarifications on every bid
- 6 months: improved hit rate and repeat client requests; value-engineering options embedded
- 12 months: recognised for accurate pricing and smooth handovers with protected margins
Package
£40–£45k base (DOE), mileage, pension, 25 days’ holiday + BH, training/cert support, and genuine progression.
