The Information Compliance Team, which is headed by the University’s Head of Information Compliance and Data Protection Officer, is responsible for supporting the University ensure that the University meets its requirements under information compliance legislation

About the Role
You will lead on managing personal data breaches and regulatory policy, helping shape university-wide data protection strategy. Acting as a Deputy Data Protection Officer, you’ll advise senior stakeholders, support DPIAs, develop guidance and training, lead improvement programmes, and oversee incident response. You’ll also manage and develop a team of specialists and contribute to wider Assurance Directorate initiatives.
About You
  • Extensive knowledge of UK and EU data protection law.
  • Proven experience managing data breaches and advising on FOI/SARs.
  • Strong project management, stakeholder engagement, and communication skills.
  • Ability to lead policy work and strategic planning in a complex organisation.
  • Experience managing teams and driving continuous improvement.
Desirable: Experience in HE, legal or regulatory environments, and relevant qualifications.

This role meets the criteria for sponsorship under the Skilled Worker visa. The University will meet the cost of the Skilled Worker visa and NHS surcharge for applicants that require a visa.
