About you

They must demonstrate a strong aptitude for teaching, the ability to inspire and engage students, and a proven record of effective teaching in Global and Imperial History.
Candidates should possess sufficient depth and breadth of subject knowledge to contribute to course development and formulate research proposals. The ability to undertake administrative responsibilities—such as coordinating an undergraduate cohort or leading a core undergraduate course—is essential. A publication record appropriate to career stage, along with a thorough familiarity with the current literature and research in Global and Imperial History, is also essential.
Application Process
Queries about the post should be addressed to Professor Faisal Devji, Professor of Indian History ([email protected]). All practical and procedural queries should be sent to our recruitments team: [email protected]. All enquiries will be treated in strict confidence; they will not form part of the selection decision.

We expect to hold interviews in September.
Only applications submitted online and received before noon Friday 29th August 2025 can be considered.
Please note that you will receive an automated email from our online recruitment portal to confirm receipt of your application. Please check your spam/junk mail.
