Job Summary:
We are looking for passionate, caring, and resilient Residential Support Workers to join our dedicated team in providing high-quality care and support for children and young people living in our residential home.
As a Residential Support Worker, you will play a vital role in creating a safe, nurturing, and supportive environment where young people can develop, grow, and achieve their potential. You will work as part of a team to support the daily routines, emotional wellbeing, and personal development of each child, helping them to build confidence, learn life skills, and experience positive relationships.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide high-quality care, ensuring the safety, wellbeing, and rights of each child are at the centre of your practice.
- Support young people with their daily routines, including education, activities, meals, and routines.
- Build positive, trusting relationships with young people, offering emotional support and consistency.
- Encourage young people’s independence, supporting them with life skills such as cooking, budgeting, and personal care.
- Support young people to engage in education, hobbies, and social opportunities both within the home and in the community.
- Work proactively to de-escalate challenging situations and manage behaviours in a positive, therapeutic way.
- Maintain clear, accurate records of daily activities, incidents, and progress.
- Participate in care planning, key work sessions, and reviews, ensuring young people’s voices are heard.
- Uphold safeguarding practices and work in line with all policies, procedures, and regulatory standards.
- Work collaboratively with the team and external professionals to ensure the best possible outcomes for young people.
- Contribute to creating a warm, welcoming, and homely environment that meets the needs of every child.
Essential Requirements:
- A genuine passion for supporting children and young people to achieve their potential.
- Resilience, compassion, and the ability to remain calm under pressure.
- Ability to work flexibly, including evenings, weekends, and sleep-in shifts (sleep-ins paid additionally).
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
- Basic IT skills for recording and reporting purposes.
- Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
Desirable (but not essential):
- Experience working with children, young people, or vulnerable groups.
- Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (or willingness to work towards it — full support provided).
- Full UK driving licence.
