Overview:
We are seeking a Cafe/Gelato Shop Assistant to join our team at shop in Bourton on the water. You will play a crucial role in providing excellent customer service and ensuring the smooth operation of the cafe. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a fast-paced environment and be part of a dynamic team.
Responsibilities:
- Greet customers in a friendly and welcoming manner
- Take customer orders and process payments accurately
- Prepare and serve food and beverages, following established recipes and quality standards
- Assist with food preparation, including chopping vegetables, making sandwiches, and baking pastries
- Maintain cleanliness and hygiene standards in the cafe, including cleaning tables, counters, and equipment
- Upsell menu items and promote daily specials to enhance customer experience
- Provide exceptional customer service by addressing customer inquiries and resolving any issues promptly
- Collaborate with the team to ensure efficient workflow and timely delivery of orders
- Follow food safety regulations and maintain proper storage and handling of ingredients
- Manage inventory levels and restock supplies as needed
- Assist with opening and closing duties as required
Qualifications:
- Basic math skills for cash handling and order processing
- Previous experience in a cafe or restaurant setting is preferred
- Knowledge of food preparation techniques is an advantage
- Strong communication skills with the ability to interact effectively with customers and colleagues
- Excellent time management skills to prioritise tasks in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to work well under pressure while maintaining attention to detail
- Understanding of restaurant operations, including kitchen procedures, is desirable
