Job Summary
David Hart Aerospace Pipes Limited manufactures pipes and ducts in aluminium, titanium, Nimonic alloys, and stainless steels predominantly for the aerospace industry, but also for the motorsport (F1) sector. Based in Downton and formed in 1999, our continued growth has been secured through the next decade by the winning of substantial new business. We are currently recruiting for an experienced Bending Specialist/Team leader to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in Bending. As a Bending specialist you will support all bending activities for DHAP. You will work closely with the Plant Manager, Engineering and other departments to maintain quality standards, and drive continuous improvement, while ensuring adherence to safety standards and specifications.
Responsibilities
- Organise, label and log bend tooling, dispose / relocate unused tools, identify optimum storage for in use tools.
- Arrange tool suites for run and repeat jobs
- Identify critical tooling spares / additional sizes for run and repeat jobs (e.g. wiper dies, mandrels, hangers, bolts etc)
- Support optimum layout of bending areas
- Train staff to ensure all machines have suitable cover
- Support staff with problem solving
- Capture best practice across all machines, and record set up data and bend parameters, tools used etc. Define call out system e.g. data card, SOP etc.
- Define standard times for bending of run and repeat parts (set and run) to support capacity plans
- Support selection of new equipment, CapEx submission and prove out
- Identify service providers for supply of tooling, machine maintenance, technical support
- Support quoting by understanding machine capabilities for new work
- Support succession planning of bending staff. To include new Bend Specialist by Feb 2027
