The successful candidate will use their skills and experience to support with the set up of the new manufacturing facility and thereafter oversee the assembly operations, ensuring that production goals are met while maintaining high standards of quality and safety.
Responsibilities will include:
- Promote and ensure the execution of safety protocols and procedures within the assembly area to ensure a safe working environment
- Supervise and lead a team of assembly operators, providing direction, training, and support to ensure optimal performance
- Foster a positive and collaborative team environment that encourages engagement and high morale
- Plan and coordinate daily assembly activities to meet production schedules and targets
- Monitor workflow and adjust staffing levels and resources as needed to maintain production efficiency
- Ensure that all assembled products meet quality standards and specifications through regular inspection and testing
- Implement and maintain quality control processes to identify and address defects or issues promptly
- Identify opportunities for improvement in assembly processes and recommend changes to enhance productivity and efficiency
- Lead initiatives aimed at reducing waste, improving cycle times, and streamlining assembly operations
- Provide on-the-job training for new team members and ongoing development for existing staff to enhance skills and knowledge
- Conduct performance evaluations and provide feedback to team members to support their growth and development
- Maintain accurate documentation of production activities, including assembly output, quality inspection results, and any incidents or issues
- Address any operational challenges or issues that arise during the assembly process in a timely manner
You will need to have proven experience in an automotive / manufacturing environment. Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma tools and techniques are preferred.
The ideal candidate will be quality and safety oriented, possess a strong understanding of assembly processes, techniques, tools and equipment with a dedication to continuous improvement. They will demonstrate effective leadership and interpersonal skills enabling them to motivate and guide the team successfully. Proficiency in manufacturing software and MS Office applications, along with good problem solving and critical thinking abilities are essential.
