Overview:
Step by Step is a charity that passionately believes in supporting young people who are going through hard times. Our unique step by step approach, providing accommodation, personal development opportunities and specialist support services, identifies and fulfils aspirations.
Each year we work with over 1,300 young people aged 11 – 25 and our team play a pivotal role in empowering young people and preventing homelessness.

Step by Step was incorporated in 1989, so have a long history of working and supporting young people. We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.
We are seeking a highly organised and proactive Administrator to primarily support our Supported Lodgings, Foyers and Fostering teams. In addition, some time will be spent on general charity administration. This administration role is essential in ensuring our services are compliant with regulatory frameworks (including Ofsted), maintaining accurate reporting, and supporting both operational and strategic functions. The ideal candidate will have experience in children and or young person services and be confident managing multiple systems, meetings, and stakeholders with precision and professionalism.
Key Responsibilities:
Supported Lodgings:
- Prepare monthly compliance reports.
- Manage and distribute feedback reports for Young People and Hosts
- Maintain and update placement data and complete associated reports.
- Provide data for Local Authority and Ofsted reports
- Update the annual Local Authority data for Host Location Assessments.
- Schedule, attend and minute compliance meetings with the Registered Manager
- Support with Ofsted inspections through data collation and report production
Foyers:
- Prepare monthly compliance reports
- Monitor and report to Foyer Managers on Health & Safety issues and required actions
- Attend and minute compliance meetings with the Registered Manager
- Provide monthly rota data
- Support Ofsted readiness and assist during inspections
Fostering:
- Prepare monthly compliance reports
- Schedule, attend and minute compliance meetings with the Registered Manager
- Support fostering panel functions:
- Organise panel meetings, recruit and co-ordinate panel members
- Arrange training, appraisals, and self-evaluations for panel members
- Liaise with the panel chair, arrange panel member interviews and obtain DBS and self-employed contracts.
- Schedule, attend and take detailed, time-sensitive minutes of Fostering Panels (training course available))
- Maintain an up-to-date panel member Central List
- Support Ofsted inspections through data collation and report production
General Administration:
- Support the Business Service team in undertaking such duties as procurement of stationery, facilities management, answering switchboard and SBS general email address.
- Support the CEO with ad-hoc administration needs
