About the Role
We are seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Weighbridge Clerk to join our team. This role is key in ensuring the accurate recording of vehicle movements and compliance with waste management legislation. You will be the first point of contact for drivers and visitors, handling documentation, payments, and enquiries while maintaining high standards of service and professionalism.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate a computerised weighbridge to record vehicle weights for deliveries and removals of waste/materials.
- Organise, reconcile, and file all paperwork, including legally required waste transfer notes and consignment notes.
- Check and control the reception of vehicles to ensure all required documentation is present, correct, and recorded.
- Liaise with site staff to coordinate vehicle reception and waste processing.
- Take card payments for waste disposal when required.
- Ensure all weighbridge users follow relevant site procedures.
- Report faults with equipment or shortages of stock to the supervisor in a timely manner.
- Handle general telephone enquiries regarding waste disposal.
Ideal Candidate Profile
Essential Skills & Experience:
- Previous experience in record keeping, administration, or clerical roles.
- Ability to operate computerised systems (experience with weighbridge systems desirable).
- Strong IT skills with the ability to quickly learn new software.
- Good communication and customer service skills.
- Attention to detail when recording and cross-checking data.
- Patient, courteous, and professional attitude when dealing with the public.
Desirable:
- Experience operating a weighbridge or holding a weighbridge certificate of competence.
- Knowledge of Gatehouse or similar weighbridge software.
- Previous experience in waste disposal or recycling environments.
Pre-Employment Requirements
- Valid Passport or Photo ID to prove Right to Work in the UK.
