Tenancy Support Officer
Hours: 25–30 hours per week
Salary: £17,693 – £21,231.60 pro rata
Contract: Permanent
Location: North East Lincolnshire
CARE (Christian Action Resource Enterprise) is a local charity providing housing and tenancy support to people facing homelessness or difficult circumstances. We are looking for a Tenancy Support Officer to help people secure and sustain tenancies, working closely with landlords, tenants, and other agencies to ensure a smooth move-in process and ongoing tenancy stability.
Role Summary
You will assist with property viewings, tenancy agreements, benefits claims, and move-ins, as well as liaising with landlords, tenants, and support workers. The role includes resolving tenancy-related issues, connecting tenants to additional support services, and ensuring accurate records are maintained.
Key Responsibilities
Property & Tenancy Management
- Assist the Housing Manager with property visits, inspections, meter readings, and arranging repairs.
- Support clients to find, move into, and set up accommodation.
- Validate applications, interview applicants, and assess suitability for the scheme.
- Obtain references and required documentation.
- Arrange property viewings and liaise with landlords.
- Complete tenancy agreements and related forms, including housing benefit, council tax, utilities, and DHP applications.
- Mediate between landlords, tenants, and support staff to sustain tenancies.
- Liaise with Housing Benefit and landlords regarding payment issues.
- Resolve tenancy issues such as neighbour disputes.
- Maintain accurate records of all actions and communications.
Client Support & Liaison
- Identify client needs and refer to appropriate agencies (e.g. NHS, Social Services, Fire Safety).
- Recognise and report safeguarding concerns promptly.
- Brief and coordinate with support workers to ensure appropriate floating support is provided.
- Submit supporting documents on clients’ behalf to councils and DWP.
- Advocate for clients where required.
General
- Ensure the service meets CARE’s quality standards and policies.
- Handle incoming and outgoing post, including legal documents.
- Attend team meetings, supervision, and required training.
- Represent CARE positively to clients, landlords, and partner agencies.
- Maintain confidentiality and work within the Data Protection Act.
- Support the Housing Manager to meet project outcomes and funding requirements.

- Compassionate, empathetic, and sensitive to people’s difficulties.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Resourceful, organised, and able to work under pressure.
- Positive, proactive attitude and willingness to collaborate.
- Enthusiasm for CARE’s aims and core purpose.
- Experience of housing, tenancy sustainment, or related work desirable.
