About the Role
We are looking for a dedicated and experienced Senior Support Worker to join our team in a small, nurturing 2-bed residential children’s home for young people with Emotional and Behavioural Difficulties (EBD) in West Bromwich B71
The successful candidate will work alongside the Deputy and Registered Manager to ensure high-quality care, safeguard children, and lead shifts effectively. You will act as a role model for the team, providing guidance, support, and stability to both staff and young people.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage shifts, ensuring all aspects of the home’s daily routines and care delivery run smoothly.
- Provide direct care and support to children, using trauma-informed approaches to promote emotional, physical, and social development.
- Assist with care planning, key working sessions, and the completion of accurate daily records and reports.
- Support the Deputy and Registered Manager in ensuring compliance with Ofsted standards and Children’s Homes Regulations 2015.
- Supervise, mentor, and support junior staff members, promoting best practice and professional development.
- Contribute to safeguarding procedures, ensuring the safety and welfare of all children at all times.
- Build and maintain positive relationships with young people, families, social workers, and other professionals.
- Take part in the on-call rota and cover shifts where required.
Requirements
- Level 3 Diploma in Children and Young People’s Workforce (Residential Childcare) – or equivalent.
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in a residential childcare setting, preferably supporting young people with EBD.
- Experience in a senior or shift-leading role (desirable).
- Strong understanding of safeguarding, behaviour management, and relevant childcare legislation.
- Excellent communication, organisational, and leadership skills.
- Ability to work flexibly, including evenings, weekends, and sleep-ins.
- Full UK Driving Licence (preferred).

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
Pay: £14.00 per hour
Expected hours: 30 – 40 per week
