Secretariat Support Assistant - Business Support (SEROCU)
We are looking for a proactive and highly organised Secretariat Support Assistant to join our Regional Organised Crime Unit (SEROCU) Secretariat team. Working as part of a dynamic Business Support function, the successful candidate will provide a wide range of administrative, secretariat, and typing services to support the senior leadership team and operational teams.
Experience is required in administration and transcription, with the ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and work both independently and collaboratively. We are seeking someone with excellent organisational skills and a flexible, can-do attitude to meet the evolving needs of the unit.
A confident communicator, you will be comfortable engaging with internal and external stakeholders at all levels. You will demonstrate strong time management, attention to detail, and the ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion and professionalism.
The successful candidate will complete often sensitive and confidential typist tasks including: organising and minuting high-level meetings, preparing agendas, presentations, and tracking actions. Providing administrative support to senior leaders; including diary management, travel bookings, and meeting preparation. Transcribing audio and video material to a high standard of accuracy, including statements, reports, and covert material. Supporting the delivery of internal projects, awards and recognition events, and business continuity planning. Assisting with estate-related admin, reception duties, and providing cross-site support during periods of absence.
The candidate should have a good standard of education, excellent literacy and numeracy skills, and be confident using Microsoft Office applications. Experience of minute-taking is essential, along with the ability to understand and summarise complex discussions. Recent experience of working in an office environment is required with evidence demonstrating discretion, tact and diplomacy, initiative, and flexibility with a willingness to learn and embrace new ways of working/technology.
This role may be required to travel to various SEROCU locations across the South East Region. Flexibility regarding working hours may be required in line with operational needs. A full UK driving licence is essential.
Due to the nature of our work, security is of paramount importance to us and therefore it will be necessary to pass and maintain vetting level SC together with a number of enhanced security checks. In order to achieve this, you must have resided in the UK for the past five years. Exemptions may apply for overseas or other diplomatic service (with HM Government), and studying abroad.
