About the Direct Payment Holder
A Personal Assistant is required to support a 19-year-old young man with a diagnosis of autism and a moderate learning disability. He is verbal with limited speech and may experience anxiety, which can sometimes lead to meltdowns or challenging behaviours.
He is a gentle and easy-going individual, who finds joy in being outdoors. His favourite activities include plane spotting, nature walks, gardening, and simply relaxing in peaceful surroundings. He responds well to calm, consistent, and structured support.
We are looking for a reliable and understanding PA who can help him build confidence and independence, especially when accessing the community. A steady, patient presence is key to helping him thrive in everyday situations.
Hours and rate of pay
Ad-hoc – 3 to 4 hours per week (Weekday after college and/or weekends)
£16 per hour

DBS/Checks
Confirmation of DBS check
Right to Work and references will be needed.
Training
Training will be offered to enable to complete the mandatory training required:
- Safeguarding Adults
- Introduction to first aid
- Health and Safety / Moving and handling
What you would be doing…
Supporting community access: outings to parks, walks, youth clubs, and other day trips
Encouraging engagement in preferred activities like gardening and plane spotting
Promoting independence and wellbeing through safe, supportive interaction
Supporting emotional regulation and helping manage anxious behaviours
Supervising during meals to ensure safety (as he tends to eat quickly)
Required skills and experience
Male (preferred by family for compatibility)
Calm, patient, and able to remain composed during challenging behaviour
Experienced in working with individuals with autism and learning disabilities
Knowledgeable in or willing to learn positive behaviour support strategies
Reliable, flexible, and honest with a positive and proactive approach
A driver with access to a car and business insurance (preferred but not required)
