We are seeking a friendly, professional receptionist to join our team. The ideal candidate will be supervising all areas of the gym as well as the front of house reception desk. You will be a face of Phoenix Gym on entry to the club, providing exceptional customer service, meeting, greeting and assisting members, dealing with customer enquiries and managing a variety of administrative tasks.
This role is crucial in ensuring the smooth operation of our gym and creating a welcoming environment for all.
You will also be required to help members with exercises and or equipment on occasion where necessary. As a result of assisting members with equipment, a level 3 personal training qualification is preferred with exercise experience but a level 2 fitness instructor is ideally required as a minimum. We can provide the option to take on an apprenticeship to gain your level 3 qualification free of charge.
A high level of confidence is expected in dealing with members of the public, particularly at night is essential as the role includes evening shifts closing down the club down.
Experience and proficiency using computers and good customer service skills, both in person and on the phone are essential also.
Other duties include, managing bookings, answering the phone, responding to emails, providing gym tours, assisting members with signing up to memberships, restocking products for sale, scheduling appointments with staff and ensuring members follow the gym rules at all times.
A strong work ethic and high level of cleanliness is expected throughout the club when on duty, so a proactive, driven personality is a must with a keen attention to detail. This includes maintaining the reception, changing rooms, toilets and the gym floor.
As an important member of the team, you will work closely with management on upholding a high level of service, culture, standards and the company vision for Phoenix Gym members.
You will be required to mainly work evenings and weekends, plus cover daytime shifts for holiday and or sickness. Morning shifts may also be required on a cover basis, but this would be far less often if at all.
The contracted hours will be a minimum of 18hrs per week, plus covering time off, holidays and sickness for other staff where necessary. This usually averages the hours into the early to mid 20’s per week over the month. The club opening hours are increasing soon which will slightly increase the working hours also.
Example shifts are currently: 16:00 - 10:00, increasing to around 11:30ish soon (time not confirmed yet) on both week nights as well weekends. Daytime shift cover would be 10am to 4pm during the week or 11:30 - 17:30 weekends. Morning shifts will mainly be covered by the am staff.
As a member of the reception team working 20+ hours per week (cover weeks can be up to 30+ hours) you will be able to provide personal training services on a self employed basis outside your working hours if you choose.
This position is for someone who enjoys working as part of a successful team, wants the position long term and may also benefit from providing personal training on a part time basis only.
This position is NOT for someone who wants to become a fully self employed personal trainer.
