Title: Quality, Health, Safety & Environmental (QHSE) Coordinator
Salary Range: up to £30,000
36.25 hours per week Monday to Friday
25 days holiday plus bank holidays

Job Function
Reporting to the Technical Director, the key objectives for this role are to maintain the Company’s ongoing certification status for ISO 9001 and ISO 1090 and to maintain a safe workplace environment that facilitates the execution of quality processes and supports a culture of continuous improvement.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Maintaining the Company’s ongoing certification status for ISO 9001 / ISO 1090 including standard operating procedures
- Providing ongoing interpretation of the latest QHSE legislation and ensuring that requirements are adequately documented within Company manuals, policies, specifications, procedures and work instructions
- Representing the Company regarding QHSE maters with legal, regulatory and professional bodies and customers
- Conducting Risk Assessments and compiling Method Statements for the Company’s operational practices
- Conducting internal QHSE audits and inspections in accordance with an agreed schedule and using standard process checklists, ensuring compliance with quality standards
- Carry out investigations on non-conforming parts to identify root cause, corrective and preventive actions
- Full reporting of and ensuring timely resolution of any non-compliance and implementing preventative/ continuous improvement actions as required
- Conducting regular QHSE review meetings, documenting key issues and recording necessary actions for compliance and or continuous improvement
- Coordinating external audits by customers and or accredited regulatory/certification bodies
- Conducting external supplier audits to assess levels of capability and compliance
- Perform independent visual/dimensional inspection of component parts and complete fabricated/welded assemblies
- Conduct 1st off and sample inspections, where needed, to ensure the capability of manufacturing processes is established and maintained
- Carry out inspection tasks in other areas when necessary, including supplier/sub-contractor activity and goods receiving
- Maintain the company’s calibration system, ensuring that measuring equipment is used correctly and kept in a suitable condition
- Assist in the development and delivery of safety training and toolbox talks
- Monitor and ensure the use of PPE and safe working practices on-site and in the workplace
- Working alongside engineering and production staff to reduce/eliminate scrap and rework.
- Investigating and reporting health and safety incidents and accidents including near misses
- Internal reporting of QHSE related key performance indicators
- Monitor waste disposal practices and environmental compliance
- Promote sustainability initiatives and reduce environmental impacts of operations
Skills, qualifications and experience
- Experience of working in a QHSE related role and or a working knowledge of ISO 9001, preferably gained in an engineering / manufacturing environment
- Experience in quality control/inspection
- Internal auditor training and qualifications for ISO 9001 (this is an essential requirement for the role but training can be provided)
- Ideally recognised health and safety training and qualifications; ideally NEBOSH
- Ideally some experience of leading continuous improvement initiatives
- Computer literacy – minimum MS Excel and MS Word
