Library and Community Centre Assistants
Full Time & Part Time / From 15 to 37 Hours Per Week / Fixed Term until 31st March 2026
Play a key role in delivering library and community services to adults, families, children, and young people.
Neighbourhood Services run more than 25 community centres and libraries across the city of Leicester. We offer the opportunity to borrow books and use other resources, hire community space, use our computers and be part of groups in our centres. At the heart of the communities, we provide a wide range of information, advice, and guidance to people of all ages and backgrounds.
Working in our well-presented and accessible libraries, community centres or multi-service centres, you’ll provide a welcoming service to people who use our services. You’ll signpost and resolve queries from members of the public in a professional and polite manner. You’ll maintain stock levels, lift, carry and move books, furniture, and equipment, undertake remedial cleaning duties as well as set up and alter rooms to meet service needs. Using proficient IT skills, you’ll maintain computerised records and confidently support customers to use our computers.
If you are highly motivated and passionate about providing excellent customer care, then we would love to hear from you. You’ll be required to work evenings, weekends, and Bank Holidays according to the needs of the service.

- Pork Pie Library and Eyres Monsell Community Centre
- St Matthew's Centre / Highfields Library / Evington Library / Thurnby Lodge Community Centre
- Knighton Library (P/T only)
- Belgrave Neighbourhood Centre / Belgrave Library (P/T only)
- Central Library (P/T only)
- New Parks Library / Tudor Centre (P/T only)
