We launched in 2019 with our first site in East Dulwich and since then we have grown to a team of 40. This year is huge for Oru with the launch of our Sutton site and the team is expected to grow to over 140 in time.
Overview
We are looking for a passionate hospitality professional to join the Kitchen team as Kitchen Porter of our East Dulwich outlet at the end of October.
This person will assist and support the kitchen team during both our busy and popular day service and to help us launch an exciting evening service.
Job Overview
The Kitchen Porter at Oru Space will be responsible for helping to support the Kitchen team before, after and during service. They will work under the guidance of the Head Chef to ensure that kitchen hygiene is maintained at company levels and that all washing is promptly done to maintain the speed of service. An interest in South Asian cuisine is preferable, Experience in a similar support role as well as a friendly and approachable manner is preferred.
Responsibilities and Duties
- Work at all times in accordance with current food safety legislation and safe working practices including HACCP and in-house allergen procedures.
- Keep all kitchen work surface and wash areas clean before, during and after service
- Wash cookware utensils and cutlery fast to keep them in rotation
- Keep the food and supply storage areas organised
- Empty, clean and take out Rubbish bins and replace bags
- Help with routine food prep tasks (washing, peeling and chopping vegetables) under supervision where required
- Develop culinary knowledge of the dishes and food prepared here so as best to assist the kitchen team during service
- Monitor kitchen equipment and report issues to supervisor
- Cleaning and washing cutlery, utensils and plates so that they are ready for service

- Spoken and written English at a B2 level or above.
- Computer literacy.
- A passion for hospitality.
- Knowledge and understanding of the industry.
- Preferably experience working in a kitchen
Salary
The base rate for this role is £11ph and you would also earn service charge. As a LLW employer, we would guarantee you £11.95ph as a minimum.
