We have a fantastic opportunity to join our HR team as a HR Officer, focusing on Absence Management.
This is a full time position (37.5 hours per week) and is being offered on a fixed term contract basis for 10 Months. You can be based out of our Cardiff, Bridgend or Swansea offices. We operate a hybrid and flexible working policy and therefore you have the option to work from home from time to time You'll be required to travel across South Wales to support managers and people as appropriate, therefore a full UK driving license is essential.
About the role.
We're looking for a HR Officer to help us proactively support both short- and long-term sickness absence across our organisation. You'll have oversight of our Occupational Health process including wellbeing support mechanisms to help support our people. You'll advise and coach managers on sickness case management, ensuring consistent application of our policies and procedures.

What you'll be doing:
- You'll maximise the data in the HRIS system to report on and actively manage sickness cases.
- You'll produce reports as required for Managers and prepare and interpret KPI data.
- You'll offer guidance to stakeholders to ensure HR absence management processes are implemented and addressed effectively in a timely manner, whilst understanding the impact and relevance of employment legislation.
- You'll manage absence processes, prepare timely updates for stakeholders, identify team members meeting trigger thresholds, and provide advice on sickness and attendance issues to managers.
- You'll ensure timely, accurate statistics and reports are provided and records are updated as needed by HR leadership and within regions.
- You'll ensure managers have clear practices/ supports and guides for managing sickness absence performance.
- You'll deliver training as necessary on behalf of the HR team regarding absence management and related competencies and knowledge.
- You'll ensure relevant and up-to-date templates are used for active recording of cases by managers.
- You'll maintain and oversee a caseload of ill health cases including Mental health cases and end of life.
- You'll maintain an awareness of developments in HR policies and processes and practices, how they should be applied across the organisation, in order to provide appropriate advice to management and individuals.
- You'll ensure Mirus meets legal obligations and mitigates the risk of Employment Tribunal Claims, costs and adverse publicity in its practice delivery of its management processes.
- You'll collaborate with HRBPs to hand over long-term sickness cases at stage two trigger points, ensuring prompt and precise case management for effective return to work or appropriate outcomes.
- You'll ensure active management of short-term sickness cases up to stage two handing over to HRBP at stage three.
- You'll work with others in optimising the use of HR system and encouraging, training and offering advice guidance on appropriate use of the HRIS system.
- You'll liaise with outside providers such as Occupational Health, Employee Assistance Program and Access to Work provisions.
- You'll Identify high risk cases that may be impacted by the Equality Act 2010, ensuring appropriate application of reasonable adjustments to the process.
- You'll act as an ambassador to promote wellbeing at work and actively seek out opportunities to promote proactive wellbeing tools.
