Job purpose/ summary of the overall job assignment:
As a Front of House Waitstaff at Qima Cafe, you will be at the forefront of our café operation, delivering exceptional customer service and ensuring that each guest enjoys an outstanding dining experience. Your role involves greeting and seating customers, taking specialty coffee and food orders, and providing detailed knowledge about our menu, including both our coffee offerings and food items. You’ll work closely with a team of passionate individuals to maintain a warm and inviting café environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Order Taking & Service: Greet and assist customers with taking their orders, ensuring accuracy, attentiveness, and a positive dining experience that fits Qima Cafe’s speciality standards.
- Food & Beverage Knowledge: Provide detailed knowledge of both our coffee menu and food offerings, making recommendations, and explaining ingredients and preparation methods to enhance the customer experience.
- Customer Engagement: Foster a friendly, welcoming environment, addressing customer inquiries and ensuring their satisfaction throughout their visit.
- Cleanliness & Organisation: Ensure that all dining areas are clean along with the designated staff areas, make sure that its organized, and properly set up, maintaining the high standards of the café.
- Team Collaboration: Work efficiently with the kitchen and barista teams to ensure smooth operations, especially during busy periods, and deliver excellent service in a timely manner.
- Café Environment: Contribute to a warm, inclusive atmosphere that reflects the café’s high standards, offering a welcoming experience to all guests.
- Multitasking & Efficiency: Manage multiple tables, ensure efficient service, and balance customer needs with operational tasks.
Knowledge, Skills, and Experience
Required:
- Minimum of 1 year of experience in a Waitstaff/ Front of House or similar role, preferably in a café or restaurant setting.
- Strong customer service skills with a focus on creating a welcoming experience.
- Passion for food and coffee, with a willingness to learn and share knowledge.
- High attention to detail in cleanliness, organization, and service quality.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced team environment.
- Reliable and self-motivated, capable of working independently when needed.
- Flexible availability, including weekends and holidays.
Desired:
- Previous experience in a specialty coffee environment. (preferred but can be provided).
- Basic knowledge of food and beverage pairings.
- Experience handling customer complaints professionally.
- Food safety or first-aid certification.
