Based at our UK head office near Daventry, we are now looking to recruit a Payroll Specialist who will get involved with the many different facets of the running of a busy Finance and Administration department.

Job Title: Payroll Specialist
Location: Woodford Halse, Northamptonshire
Reports To: Adam Trailor (Financial Controller)

SUMMARY OF THE ROLE
- To administer and run the monthly payroll for one UK based Singer company
- To have experience with payroll taxes and other deductions and be confident liaising with HMRC and employees on these
- Administration of salary-sacrifice style pension scheme and resolving queries etc
- Coordinate and produce the month end payroll journals and input to the accounting system (NetSuite)
- Produce reports and assist the accounting team in monthly payroll reconciliations and queries
- Work closely with HR to gather overtime and absence information to input into the monthly payroll calculations
- Record any anomalies, work proactively to resolve, and improve internal processes
- Ensure that our payroll systems, reports, and process are fully compliant and in-line with any legislation changes that occur
- Assist with administrating and processing employee expenses and benefits
- Assist with contractors’ administration and payment
- Monitoring the Payroll inbox daily and responding promptly
- Other accounting and administrative duties as necessary
The nature of the role is such that there will be a requirement to work across the functional boundaries with the Finance and HR Departments, but the following gives a flavour of the types of duties the successful candidate would be expected to undertake:
- Extensive use of Netsuite, Ceridian DayForce and use of MS Office, including Excel
- Administer all aspects of payroll, pensions, and expenses paid to employees
- Work closely with other members of the finance team to gather relevant information and help with month-end reconciliations
- Be the ‘go-to’ person for payroll and pension queries
- Keep up-to-date with changing legislation and help the business implement any changes needed
- Assist with other finance and office admin tasks as necessary
- Personal confidence, self-belief, and determination to succeed
- A recognised payroll qualification would be beneficial
- 3 years+ of payroll experience
- Good numeracy skills with attention to numerical detail
- Basic IT skills, although training on internal systems will be provided
- Methodical with an eye for detail
- Confident approach to communication – both written and oral
- Able to fit in and work in a small team
- Flexible attitude with the ability to work across finance roles
Education, training and qualifications A recognised payroll qualification or qualified by experience with 3 years + working in a payroll function Lead payroll administrator experience
Skills & knowledge
Used to working on your own initiative with the people skills to develop cross-functional relationships.
Microsoft Office skills, with at least basic Excel and Word knowledge.
Intermediate / Advanced Excel knowledge
Experience
