Brief Description
This role sits within Supply Chain Operations (SCO), an area of the business which supplies and delivers the logistics, materials, components, rail and road fleet that enable the maintenance and renewal of the railway.
SCO keeps the materials, machinery and components required by its customers moving making sure they are on-site when needed so work can go ahead as planned and on schedule. Watch our video Working in Supply Chain Operations

About the role (External)
In this role, you'll provide valuable support to both depot and office teams by delivering accurate management information and handling a range of administrative tasks. You'll help develop and manage business plans, budgets, forecasts, and financial reviews, as well as contribute to development projects. This position also involves general administrative duties to keep operations running smoothly.
Key accountabilities include:
1. Support the fleet team in resourcing and delivery of all works and depot operations to ensure the safe delivery of customer requirements.
2. Utilise financial and procurement systems and act as Local Purchasing Agent (where directed).
3. Identify and support continuous improvement programmes and initiatives to improve efficiency and service delivery.
4. Support the development and implementation of management systems and processes to support works planning.
5. Attend meetings to document issues and corrective actions and manage them to conclusion.
6. Collate, administer and act as the focal point for all depot related documentation and technical records in accordance with company policies and statutory regulations.
7. Identify initiatives to reduce operating cost and opportunities to improve depot revenues.
8. Resolve issues which arise during planning and where these cannot be resolved escalate them to the depot management team.
9. Act as FAMS 'superuser' for team.
The ideal candidate will demonstrate the following criteria:
Essential
- Familiar with financial and commercial support processes.
- Ability to communicate accurately in writing.
- Competent in the Fleet Asset Management System.
- Experience of using Microsoft Office applications.
- Ability to communicate to a high level both verbally and in writing.
- Knowledge of reporting systems.
Desirable
- Relevant clerical or business management qualification.
- Knowledge of rail maintenance depots activities.
Vacancy type: This role is permanent.
Location: This position is based at our York Holgate Depot (minimum 4 days per week in the office).
Hours: 35 hours per week with hybrid working and occasional travel as required. Job shares can be considered.
Salary range: £28,000 - £32,000 per annum, depending upon skills and experience.
