Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Cafe Assistant to join our team. The ideal candidate will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of our café, providing excellent customer service while assisting with food preparation and maintaining a clean and welcoming environment. This position requires strong time management skills and a commitment to food safety standards.
Duties
- Assist in the preparation of food items, ensuring quality and presentation meet café standards.
- Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the café area, including dining spaces, kitchen, and storage areas.
- Serve customers efficiently, taking orders accurately and providing helpful recommendations when needed.
- Handle cash transactions and assist with basic maths for order totals.
- Ensure adherence to food safety regulations at all times, including proper storage and handling of food items.
- Collaborate with team members to ensure a positive working environment and seamless service delivery.
- Help manage inventory by restocking supplies as needed and reporting any shortages to management.
Experience
- Previous experience in a café or food service environment is essential.
- Familiarity with food preparation techniques and basic cooking skills is advantageous.
- Strong time management abilities to effectively handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced setting.
- Basic math skills for handling transactions and order calculations.
- A commitment to maintaining high standards of food safety and hygiene practices.
- Must be Level 2 food and Hygiene or above.
