Job Overview
We are seeking a reliable and skilled Van Driver to join our team. The ideal candidate will also be required to spend time in our compound jet washing our vehicles and machinery and completing general yard maintenance. As a Van Driver, you will be responsible for transporting goods safely and efficiently while ensuring excellent communication with our team and customers. Start date 26/8/25
Responsibilities
- Drive a van to deliver goods to various locations, ensuring timely and safe arrival.
- Load and unload goods, ensuring proper handling to prevent damage during transit.
- Collecting materials from Builders Merchants and delivering to colleagues on site at various locations around the North East
- Collecting tarmac/concrete from various plants around the region and taking to site
- Communicating regularly with colleagues on site and with your Supervisor
- Wearing correct PPE
- Completing paperwork daily
- Communicate effectively with staff regarding delivery schedules and any potential delays.
- Adhere to all traffic laws and regulations while driving, promoting safety at all times.
- General maintenance whilst working in the yard (jobs to be given by Supervisor as required).
- Duties will include heavy lifting.
- Using plant machinery to load desired vehicle (training will be given).
- Manual Handling required.
Qualifications
- Previous experience as a Van Driver or Delivery Driver is preferable.
- Excellent communication skills to effectively interact with team members and customers.
- A valid clean driving licence is required.
- Experience in construction not essential as full training will be provided.
- Experience driving a Ford Transit Pickup not essential but desirable.
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively to meet delivery schedules.
