The Wellcome Trust is a global charitable foundation. We improve health for everyone by funding science, leading policy and advocacy campaigns, and building partnerships.
We plan to spend £16bn over the next ten years, funding new discoveries in life, health, and wellbeing, and taking on three global health challenges: mental health, infectious disease and climate and health.
These challenges need the bold science we support, but they won’t be solved by science alone.
We are looking for a Workplace Equity Senior Specialist to join our Equity Team.
Where in Wellcome will I be working?
The Workplace Equity Senior Specialist plays a pivotal role in guiding strategic initiatives and policies both within Wellcome and with its external partners in the UK and globally, utilising expertise to advance equity goals, influence key stakeholders, and collaborate closely with Wellcome's People Team and senior leaders.
The Equity team at Wellcome is dedicated to integrating equity into Wellcome’s operations and external partnerships, enhancing inclusivity and supporting diverse programmes through four specialised teams focused on equitable research practices, building global research ecosystems, advancing workplace equity, and innovating equity approaches across Wellcome.
What will I be doing?
You'll drive strategic direction and manage partnerships to enhance workplace equity across Wellcome and its UK and global partners, providing expert advice, influencing key stakeholders, and developing impactful initiatives, while fostering strong relationships and contributing to an inclusive culture aligned with Wellcome's Equity Framework.
As a Workplace Equity Senior Specialist, you will:
- Drive strategic direction for workplace equity, managing global partnerships in alignment with Wellcome's mission and Equity Framework.
- Collaborate with partner leads and external partners, providing expert guidance on workplace equity tailored to specific contexts and leveraging practical knowledge on equity, including anti-racism and anti-ableism.
- Support Wellcome’s external partners in tracking D&I impacts and risks, ensuring adherence to ESG standards and fostering continuous improvement through strong relationships with senior EDI leaders.
- Strategically assess and address gaps and risks in workplace equity, developing impactful initiatives to promote inclusivity and diversity across Wellcome's global network.
- Partner with Wellcome's People team to ensure teams access high-quality expertise, while contributing to an inclusive organisational culture through values and behaviours.
Is this job for me?
If you are a passionate and adaptable leader who excels at managing partnerships in the science and research sectors, with a proven track record of driving meaningful workplace equity initiatives in multiple geographies and translating data into actionable strategies in support of Wellcome’s mission.
